What is Anxiety?
Occasional anxiety in response to stressors such as money, health, or family issues, is a normal part of life.
Anxiety disorders involve excessive fear that is different from normal temporary worry or nervousness. Persistent or recurrent anxiety can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, schoolwork, and relationships.
Anxiety disorders are the most common of mental health conditions and affect nearly 30 percent of adults at some point in their lives. There are several types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and various phobia-related disorders (ie, flying, heights, receiving injections, etc).
Symptoms of a generalized anxiety disorder may include:
. Feeling restless, wound-up, or on-edge
. Being easily fatigued
. Having difficulty concentrating
. Being irritable
. Having headaches, muscle aches, stomachaches, or unexplained pains
. Difficulty controlling feelings of worry
. Having sleep problems, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep
. Panic attacks are sudden periods of intense fear, discomfort, or a sense of losing . . . control even when there is no clear danger or trigger.
Symptoms of a panic attack may include:
. Pounding or racing heart
. Sweating
. Trembling or tingling
. Chest pain
. Feelings of impending doom
. Feelings of being out of control

What are the available treatments for Anxiety?
Treatment of anxiety disorder can help people lead normal productive lives. Anxiety disorders are generally treated with therapy and/or medication. Other new treatments are available for those who do not achieve good response or full remission.
